Join Us For the 5oth Annual World Languages and Cultures Day!

Each year, the School of Languages and Linguistics and the College of Liberal Arts host World Languages and Cultures Day (WLD), a celebration of global languages, traditions, and learning. The event brings together hundreds of high school students and their language teachers from across the region for a day of cultural exploration and connection.
The day begins with a welcome session featuring faculty and campus leaders, followed by the popular "Guess the Language" game. Students then break out into interactive sessions led by SIU faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and volunteers from across campus. These sessions highlight languages, cultural practices, and global perspectives through engaging, hands-on activities.
